About the Role
About the Role

The main role of the Technical Lead is to ensure that all business initiatives that require IT involvement are approached from a strategic perspective and aligned to the overall IT strategy. In this role you will act as the design authority for all IT changes and projects, contribute to the strategic IT Architecture and Roadmaps and define solutions architecture to support delivery of business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Leading our People (Colleagues and Agents)
  • Engage and motivate the Business Change and Development Architecture team to deliver business objectives.
  • Build capability of team by supporting and coaching through effective performance management practices.
  • Provide regular and timely feedback to team members.
  • Effectively communicate with Head of Function and Senior Enterprise Architects to provide feedback on potential succession plans and team performance.
Doing the Right Thing for our Customers
  • Ensure our customers are at the heart of everything we do and our actions enhance our customer relationship.
Delivering our Numbers
  • Responsible for the delivery of team objectives.
  • Ensure work is delivered in line with SLAs and agreed targets.
Managing our Risks
  • Ensure business policy and processes reflect current practices and are adhered to.
  • Provides operational and specialist insight to drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify risks and provide proposals for potential solutions, balancing risk with business needs.
Skills and Experience
About You

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Extensive experience in IT including the full project lifecycle and Service Oriented Architecture.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate technical considerations to non-technical audiences.
  • Good team worker in both internal and external teams.
  • Ability to lead, coach and mentor.
  • Able to work under own initiative, with minimal supervision.
  • Rigorous attention to detail.
  • Recognised as a domain level expert in technologies either deployed within Provident or within the strategy to deploy.
  • Broad knowledge of one or more of: System/application Architecture, Networks, Storage Area Networks, OLTP/OLAP databases, Intranets, Extranets, B2B/B2C Strategies, Business Continuity and Governance.
  • Up to date knowledge of current and future technology trends which may be beneficial to the organisation.
Desirable
  • I.T. Operations experience
  • Understand the requirements of PCI DSS
  • Microsoft technologies including SQL server 2005+, .NET2 +, WCF, WF and WIF
  • Data modelling and relational database design
  • Integration technologies including XML, SOAP, REST and WCF services
  • Experience of structured vendor selection processes
  • Understand the requirements of an FCA regulated business.

Qualifications

Essential
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
Desirable
  • TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification
