About the Role

In this role you will provide design input for technology projects and oversee the deployment of those solutions and the transition into IT Operations support for the IT Platform Design Team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide input into technical designs and implementation plans ensuring industry best practices and techniques are used.
  • Ensure designs are considering the use of latest technologies and are produced with operational run in mind.
  • Work alongside Senior Technical Specialists / SMEs to implement solutions in development and test in accordance with the designs.
  • Work alongside Operational Delivery teams to oversee implementation of solutions in Production accordance with the designs.
  • Raising of appropriate change requests where required as part of implementation.
  • Ensure code produced is under version control and is checked into source control.
  • Conduct knowledge transfer between peers both within our team and between other Technical Teams.
  • Work closely with our Service Transition team to ensure the smooth transition of new services into Operational teams.
  • Provide operational BAU support for Non-Production Technology Environments.
  • Provide technical input into Risk and Control Frameworks in their production and review.
  • Demonstration of an appropriate level of independence in dealing effectively with key stakeholders and internal customers.
  • Address issues that have been escalated up from IT Platform Design & Operational colleagues.
Skills and Experience
About You

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Extensive hands-on, deep technical experience designing and implementing Microsoft Azure technology specifically, but not limited to: App Services, Azure SQL database, Availability sets, Azure network components, ADFS, Express Route, DNS, Load Balancing, Storage, Data Lakes, VM Scale Sets or Blob Storage.
  • Experience of proposing and defining all types of cloud based solutions (IaaS, SaaS and PaaS).
  • Experience of authoring Azure Resource Manager templates.
  • Experience of designing and implementing ADFS.
  • Experience of designing and implementing solutions on or using the following technologies: Windows Server 2016/2012/2008/2003, SQL Server 2016/2014/2012, IIS 7.5/8, MS Dynamics Online and PowerShell.
  • Exposure to a range of continuous integration and build tools, specifically VSTS.
  • Use of source code version control software such as Git.
  • Experienced in designing and implementing robust, highly available and scalable infrastructure, solutions and services.
  • Understanding of Load Balancing and Firewalls
  • Understanding of the following protocols: DHCP, DNS, FTP, HTTP/HTTPS, SMTP, SSL, TLS, Telnet.
Qualifications

Essential- One or more of the following:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • AZ-100: Microsoft Azure Infrastructure and Deployment
  • AZ-101: Microsoft Azure Integration and Security.
  • AZ-300: Microsoft Azure Architect Technologies.
  • AZ-301: Microsoft Azure Architect Design.
  • MCSA/MCSE or equivalent qualification
