About the Role
Location: Bradford - hybrid working, office based 1-2 days per week

We are looking for a Data Engineer Lead to manage the provision of Business Intelligence within Gateway, providing the business with data to allow it to meet financial, regulatory and performance reporting requirements, along with managing and leading the development of the Business Intelligence team.

Leading our people
  • Responsible for ensuring colleagues have a clear understanding of the business objectives and how their role contributes to them
  • Lead, engage and motivate the team to deliver against business objectives
  • Build capability of team by supporting and coaching through effective performance management practices
  • Effectively communicate with Head of Function to provide feedback on potential succession plans and team performance
  • Ensure the right people are in the right roles and that skills are being utilised effectively in order to build high quality teams
  • Provide regular and timely feedback to team members through performance reviews
  • Reward and celebrate team achievements and great performance
  • Effectively manage the team in all other aspects of their role including attendance and behaviours and have regular wellbeing discussions
  • Create an inclusive culture which promotes diversity and Blueprint behaviours

Key responsibilities & accountabilities
  • Promote and manage agreed departmental ITIL processes to implement and achieve efficient and effective Incident, Service, Request, Change, Problem and Release Management.
  • Promote and demonstrate professional behaviour and attitudes including but not limited to customer and service support ethos across the Business.
  • Engage with and manage service transition activities for new products as well as service enhancements.
  • Establish and maintain key relationships with stakeholders within Provident (IT, Head Office and Field).
  • Ensure work is delivered in line with SLAs and agreed targets
  • Responsible for managing costs within budget parameters
  • Responsible for the delivery of BI solutions in line with agreed targets '“ ensuring stakeholder are managed and communicated
  • Represent the BI team across the business, engaging with project teams and stakeholders to ensure their BI requirements are understood, managed and delivered
  • Ensure business policy and processes reflect current practices and are adhered to
  • Provides operational and specialist insight to drive continuous improvement
  • Identify risks and provide proposals for potential solutions, balancing risk with business needs
  • Ensure current team practices reflect business policy and are adhered to
  • Identify and manage relevant risks and issues affecting the BI team
  • Ensure that the team works to appropriate development / testing and documentation standards
  • Ensure that the team work within Data Protection and Data Governance Guidelines
  • Ensure the data measures within the BI solutions are documented within a measures catalogue
Skills and Experience
Experience
  • Previous experience of working in the non-standard Consumer Credit Industry
  • Recent experience of working in an FCA regulated business
  • Able to delegate responsibility
  • Analytical thinking who is able to interpret MI/BI and use it for sound decision making
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to influence, negotiate and constructively challenge at all levels
  • Ability to operate independently and objectively
  • Understanding of corporate governance frameworks
  • PC Literacy to include middle management level MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Proven ability to effectively plan and organise work effectively and prioritise deadlines whilst working at a fast pace
  • Microsoft SQL Server BI stack
  • Data warehousing / BI experience
  • Rigorous attention to detail
  • Excellent in interfacing with business/product owner and driving discussions with both IT and business stakeholders
  • Excellent people management skills and awareness of leadership, communication and cultural practices

Desirable
  • In depth knowledge of an FCA regulated business
  • Advanced knowledge analysing requirements and how they impact the data environment
  • Proven experience of working with iterative/agile development methodologies

  • Educated to degree level or appropriate technical experience
