About the Role

Location: Bradford - hybrid working, office based 2-3 days per week

We are looking for Scrum Masters' to work directly with technical delivery teams/squads to drive a culture of continuous improvement in how they deliver consistently and regularly with shippable products released into live on a regular basis. The scrum master acts as the facilitator for the agile development team and supports them in organising themselves in a way that enables them to make changes quickly, in accordance with agile principles.

Leading our people

  • Responsible for ensuring colleagues have a clear understanding of the business objectives and how their role contributes to them
  • Lead, engage and motivate squads to deliver business objectives
  • Build capability of team by supporting and coaching through effective performance management practices
  • Effectively communicate with Head of Function to provide feedback on potential succession plans and team performance
  • Ensure the right people are in the right roles and that skills are being utilised effectively in order to build high quality teams
  • Provide regular and timely feedback to team members
  • Reward and celebrate team achievements and great performance
  • Effectively manage the team in all other aspects of their role including attendance and behaviours and have regular wellbeing discussions
  • Create an inclusive culture which promotes diversity and Blueprint behaviours

Key Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicate with Senior Solutions Delivery Manager, Technical Leads and Head of Function to provide feedback on individual and team performance
  • Manage day to day activity and delegate workload so that it is distributed appropriately
  • Use their agile delivery skills to mentor and coach the delivery teams and squad members to define and achieve sprint goals/objectives
  • Their focus is on continuously improving the development lifecycle and ultimately, being a key support for the management teams to ensure they continue to evolve their agile delivery capability
  • They are an Agent of change across a number of technical delivery squads. Size of the squad in line with agile principles.
  • They lead in the driving of collaboration within delivery squads to foster a culture of continuous improvement
  • Responsible for the facilitation of all agile ceremonies '“ daily scrum / stand-up, sprint planning, retrospective and sprint review
  • They coach in agile practices and ideas/concepts for continual improvement
  • Accountable for forecasting of deliverables across delivery sprint cycles
  • Protector of the squad to ensure that they have the maximum possibility to deliver on their sprint goals
  • Lead in the estimation and planning of technical deliverables across sprint iterations
  • Responsible for the correct use and application of the Scrum framework
  • Support the building of capability within the squads by supporting and coaching through effective performance management practices
  • Ensure our customers are at the heart of everything we do and our actions enhance our customer relationship
  • Assess the impact of proposed business changes on existing systems functionality and suggest potential solutions
  • Servant first to the delivery team before considering their own role
  • Close work with Product Owner(s) to ensure product backlogs are in shape to deliver features into sprint backlogs
  • Ensure work is delivered in line with SLAs and agreed targets
  • Responsible for managing costs within budget parameters
  • Ensure work is delivered in accordance with the release cycle and sprints
  • Key in tracking and removing of impediments to delivery
  • Ensure business policy and processes reflect current practices and are adhered to
  • Provides operational and specialist insight to drive continuous improvement
  • Identify risks and provide proposals for potential solutions, balancing risk with business needs
Skills and Experience


  • Previous experience of working in the non-standard Consumer Credit Industry
  • Recent experience of working in an FCA regulated business
  • Able to delegate responsibility
  • Analytical thinking who is able to interpret MI/BI and use it for sound decision making
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to influence, negotiate and constructively challenge at all levels
  • Ability to operate independently and objectively
  • Ability to deputise for the Head of Function where possible
  • Understanding of corporate governance frameworks
  • PC Literacy to include middle management level MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Proven ability to effectively plan and organise work effectively and prioritise deadlines whilst working at a fast pace
  • Previous experience within an agile delivery team or similar environments
  • Able to delegate responsibility
  • Able to work under own initiative, with minimal supervision
  • Rigorous attention to detail
  • Scrum methodology and agile frameworks
  • Coaching and mentoring of technical delivery teams
  • Agile techniques – User Stories, Continuous Integration, BDD/TDD, Pairing, Automated Testing
  • Servant leadership working with delivery squads to drive a continual improvement mentality
  • Metrics in sprint delivery – burndown / burnup, incremental delivery, story points, cumulative flow


  • Understand the requirements of an FCA regulated business
  • Financial Services exposure
  • Degree in an IT related subject
  • Development and/or testing experience



  • CSM Certification


  • Prince2 Agile or DSDM
  • ASM
