About the Role

About the Role
This role is responsible for supporting, coaching and challenging the first line across the Group's Technology & Change teams, in relation to their ability to identify and mitigate risks associated with their key processes.

To assist in embedding a risk-aware culture at all levels throughout Technology & Change, to ensure that the first line make informed decisions and act in accordance with the Enterprise Risk Management Framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and provide advice with regard to implementation of the Group risk framework.
  • Assist the first line in assessing risks to the objectives of key IT & Change processes; identifying and evaluating controls and taking actions to remediate weaknesses.
  • Assist with the implementation and completion of the Risk & Control Self-Assessment process (RCSA) in the first line.
  • Managing and delivering an oversight and assurance plan that is reflective of the IT and Change risk profile & business risk appetite.
  • Working with management teams to develop and improve risk management and internal controls
  • Support the first line in understanding and adhering to the Group risk appetite.
  • Assist in the design of any risk training / coaching for first line stakeholders and provide support where necessary in implementing training.
  • Input into projects and change initiatives in an advisory capacity to help ensure that project risks are identified

Skills and Experience

  • Strong IT and Financial Services experience including knowledge of IT security, Resilience, Project management and operational IT.
  • Experience of risk and control frameworks, with particular emphasis on their application in an IT & Change setting. A background in Risk or an IT Audit function would be a distinct advantage.
  • Exposure to key IT management standards COBIT/ITIL/ISO27001/PCI DSS etc.
  • Excellent relationship management and influencing skills with the ability to balance assertiveness with need to build and maintain internal relationships
  • Natural problem-solving mindset that uses thoughtfulness, drive, and appropriate urgency.
  • Partnering with key stakeholders to ensure views are understood and agreement is reached in a collegiate way, using both information and judgement to create recommendations and support decisions.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Experience of working within IT in the financial services industry.
  • Experience of risk and control systems.
