About the Role
About the role: We have an exciting opportunity for a Decision Science Manager to use advanced analytics to provide insights and improve the quality of decisioning across the Credit Risk department. This position uses predictive statistical modelling, including: standards and processes to prepare and explore data; design, build, and implement models; and evaluate and report model performance.

The Decision Science Manager will work with and engage Stakeholders, the Head of Decision Science, and the rest of the Credit Risk and supporting functions, in accordance with the organisation's analytical needs and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build capability of team by supporting and coaching through effective performance management practices
  • Be an SME on analytical tool sets
  • Responsible for working with the data team to ensure that data is fit for purpose, is optimised for analytical work, and new data sources are integrated in appropriate formats
  • Responsible for liaising with business stakeholders to understand modelling requirements, and provide direction and oversight on model use
  • Develop and manage development of credit risk scoring models, IFRS9 models, and marketing models
  • Develop and monitor strategies such as champion/challenger
  • Evaluate next generation tools to reduce scorecard development time without degrading benchmark performance
  • Provide oversight and develop post implementation monitoring of all scorecards to ensure discriminatory power, stability and accuracy is within tolerance limits

We have moved to a hybrid way of working. This means that you can work from home in this role, however you will be required to work from the Bradford office 1-2 days per week. (Bradford is the preferred office location but also open to working out of our Central London or Petersfield office)
Skills and Experience
What we are looking for:

Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience of scorecard development within a Credit Risk or similar function
  • Previous experience of working in Consumer Credit; non-standard Consumer Credit Industry desirable
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to influence, negotiate and constructively challenge at all levels
  • Ability to lead, coach and mentor a technical team
  • Expertise and experience in credit risk scoring models; Marketing and IFRS9 modelling desirable.
  • Knowledge of model monitoring procedures
  • Advanced programming ability in SAS or alternative scorecard development tools
  • Programming ability in open source data science languages, such as Python, desirable
  • Understanding of tools and methodologies employed in data science desirable
  • Knowledge of cloud-based analytical tools and processes
  • Knowledge of credit bureau data

Education
  • Degree in in quantitative field (e.g. statistics, mathematics, operation research or econometrics). Postgraduate education preferred
